Le Griffon

Four-star B&B · 426 Main Street, Shediac

“In our country, there’s only one day at a time.”
Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking-Glass

An 1896 Italianate villa on Shediac’s Main Street. Five rooms, each with its own private bathroom. A grand staircase, a parlour of antiques, a screened veranda, and trees some 130 years old.

It’s also the front door to the Wonderland: breakfast at our chocolaterie across the street, supper at our bistro, a double feature at our drive-in by the beach. Here, you may well believe six impossible things before breakfast.

The house

The woodwork has had a century to settle. The parlour is quiet, the guest kitchen is yours, and the veranda is made for a late-afternoon drink.

The rooms

L’Émerveille, La Quadrille, L’Échiquier, La Cheshire, and Les Tweedles. Premium queen beds (a king in Les Tweedles), air conditioning, TV, and Wi-Fi.

Breakfast

Taken across the street at Adorable Chocolat, our chocolaterie and café, from 7:30am. It’s included in your stay. The chocolates are at your own risk.

Evenings

Le Moque-Tortue, our bistro, is seven doors down: lobster, oysters, mussels, cocktails, and one of Canada’s largest board game collections.

A day in the Wonderland

Everything is a short walk or a short drive from your room. Some of it is seasonal; the Wonderland page has the details.

Morning
Breakfast across the street at Adorable Chocolat, from 7:30am. A second espresso is never a mistake.
Late morning
Parlee Beach, five minutes by car: warm salt water, a Blue Flag beach, and a mat that runs to the water’s edge for walkers and wheelchairs.
Lunch
Morse et Marteaux: brisket smoked at least sixteen hours over maple, at Smith & Main next to Adorable, or at the East Canteen on Parlee Beach in summer.
Afternoon
The Witzend kiosk at the Homarus Centre, beside the Giant Lobster. It books the best of Shediac, ours and everyone else’s.
Supper
Le Moque-Tortue, seven doors down: lobster, oysters, and a board game for dessert.
Dusk
The Neptune Drive-In, May to October: a double feature under the stars, sound on 92.7 FM.

In 2027, at the Neptune Drive-In

The Shediac Mascarade, 28 to 30 May · The Shediac Renaissance Faire, 20 to 22 August · Afterland, 1 to 3 October

Tickets go on sale 29 October 2026. Festival weekends fill the house first.
